New Month! Fresh Start Ideas
This morning, my iPhone reminded me that today is July 1st. A brand new month! I had to pause for a moment because my brain is still trying to process all of March through June, with everything that has happened this year. (Cue the memory reel of a pandemic, murder hornets, aliens, race riots, Sahara dust storms, coke boars and the mass discussions about masks) I have no idea where the time has gone, but frankly, I can't imagine 6 more months of 2020.
When you flip over the calendar, or your electronic device changes the calendar for you, do you see it as a fresh opportunity? A clean slate with tons of possibilities. Do you use this new beginning as a time to organize, create fresh lists, start new habits, and forgive the past? (Forgiveness for me and many others translates to forgiving ourself for eating everything in the house over the past few months)
I enjoy the beginning of each new month! It inspires me to find one little challenge to take on. Make sure that you pick a challenge that is small and manageable each day so you set yourself up for success. Here are some monthly challenges that might inspire your fresh start. I have included some templates at the bottom of the article that you can download.
Create a food menu for the month.
Clean the fridge for a fresh start.
Pick one small area in your house to declutter, organize or clean each day. The task should take no more than 5-10 minutes.
Find a large chore you have been putting off and divide it into 30 days worth of work.
Pick a credit card and set aside an amount each day to put on the card at the end of the month. You can have this amount pulled each day. This option may require you to give up some shopping splurges.
Schedule your workouts for the month with your local gym. Pull up their schedule and reserve your spot. (Note: Some gyms will only allow you to schedule 1-2 weeks in advance. If that's the case, still schedule them in your calendar and then weekly/bi-weekly reserve your spots. If you aren't sure what to do, my studio offers virtual daily live classes. Check it out at www.HeniFitness.com/schedule )
Set a daily reminder on your phone for a habit you are trying to pick up. Examples could be stretching, taking 10 minutes to read, flossing daily, going for a daily walk, send a text to a different person each day with a positive message, meditation, and many more.
If you have a monthly challenge, I would love to hear about it and incorporate it into the list. Good luck this month, and it feels appropriate to add with this being 2020, "And may the odds be ever in your favor."
